Description

My name is Ben Mayberry. I am a career Firefighter and Licensed AEMT. I was recently voted in as the Safety Coordinator for Charlotte Ballpark here in Charlotte, Tennessee. I have been a part of this program my entire life, from playing baseball as a kid and now as a head coach where my children play as well as my new role as the Safety Coordinator. We are a local non profit organization that operates as Dickson County Little League offering baseball, softball, and tee Ball. All of our board members, park officials, and coaches are all volunteers. On average we sign up around 400-500 children in age ranges from 3-17 every season. We have recently discussed the need for new safety action plans and needs for the park, one of those being an AED. With over 400 children signing up every season as well as the parents to those players and coaches we can expect more than 1000 individuals at our park any given day of the season. With those numbers, and the fact that sudden cardiac arrest is the leadest cause of death, we know it is likely we will face this one day. We are wanting to be proactive in this sense and have an action plan in place prior to an event happening. We have several volunteers who are either a licensed medical professional or have had CPR training; however we do lack having an AED in place. Due to our ball park being 100% donation funded we simply do not have the funds and would really appreciate any help we can get towards aquiring one. Thank you!
