Description
I run a child care facility in a rural town in Wyoming. Access to potentially life saving equipment is difficult. Our paramedic/emergency response services are largely volunteer based so their response time is in excess of 20+ minutes. Our police department doesn’t have the funds to equip every vehicle with an AED.
In addition to having a husband with a diagnosed heart condition (WPW), I provide care for infants and children of all ages, and having the equipment accessible could mean the difference between life or death for some of these little people.
My brother in law unfortunately lost his life to the same heart condition that my husband lives with 4 years ago this month. If his wife had had access to an AED before the paramedics arrived on scene, perhaps his children would not be growing up without their father. If I can have an AED accessible to all families in my neighborhood, and potentially save even one life, then I want to be able to do that.
