Description

The Jay Community Center (JCC) began in 1953 as the Jay County Boys Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the basement of a local church. By the 1980s, JCC relocated and renovated the Portland Armory.

In 2004, the organization rebranded as the Jay Community Center, adopting a new mission: “Strengthening the health and social interaction of our community’s families through sports, recreation, and fitness.” This transformation included the addition of the Goodrich Sports Complex, featuring gymnasiums, a fitness center, locker rooms, and a walking track.

Today, JCC focuses on keeping the community active through youth sports leagues, tournaments, community events, and more. The 2017 opening of a senior center further expanded its multi-generational impact. JCC continues to serve as a hub for wellness, recreation, and connection in Jay County and beyond.

JCC offers after-school and summer programs for K-7th grade. The Jay County Boys & Girls Club and Summer Day Camp provide affordable options for families seeking to keep their children active and engaged.

The Boys & Girls Club has been a vital part of the community since the early 1950s, providing a safe and engaging space for local youth. Meeting Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 5:30 PM during the school year, the club offers homework help, recreational activities, and access to gymnasiums for group play and skill development. With an annual membership fee of just $30!

Summer Day Camp begins when school lets out, offering families an active and affordable alternative to traditional daycare. Campers enjoy group activities in the gymnasiums, movies, crafts, and frequent trips to Hudson Family Park and the Portland Water Park. Community partners provide weekly programs, and special visits from the fire department and K-9 unit add to the fun and learning experience!
