Description
Every parent, coach, and athlete hopes the worst will never happen on the field. But the reality is that sudden cardiac arrest can strike anywhere, anytime — even in young, healthy athletes. Survival depends on how quickly CPR is started and whether an AED (automated external defibrillator) is available.
Recently, at a local football game, a young player collapsed and CPR had to be performed while waiting for EMS. There was no AED on site. In rural areas like ours across Northern California and Nevada, emergency response can take longer than those critical minutes. The presence of an AED can literally mean the difference between life and death.
We are parents of youth athletes who spend many hours every week at games and practices in both states. We are often at different fields on the same day — meaning one AED is not enough to protect all the athletes, coaches, referees, and families gathered. That’s why our goal is to raise funds for two portable AEDs. With two, we can make sure lifesaving equipment is present no matter which event we are attending.
We have already been approved for an AED “buy-down” grant, which lowers the cost from over $1,500 each to about $1,200 each. With community support, we can cover the rest. Your donation will help us put AEDs directly on the sidelines of youth sports where they are most needed.
We are committed to keeping the devices maintained and accessible so that anyone can use them in an emergency. These AEDs won’t just protect our own kids — they will serve every athlete and family member in our community.
Thank you for helping us take this step to bring lifesaving tools to the places where our kids play, learn, and grow. Together, we can make sure help is always within reach.
